JKL’s Update: Together Towards 2026 JKL’s Digital Transformation and Commitment to Clear, High-Quality Care With clarity and commitment, we focus on delivering the highest standards of care within the tasks we are commissioned to provide — recognising that, for many services, the local authority holds responsibility for commissioning, while JKL is dedicated to delivering that care with professionalism, compassion, and respect. As part of our future vision, we are embracing digital transformation to strengthen our care planning, improve communication across teams, enhance family access to information, and support staff development through better training resources. These innovations will allow us to deliver care that is not only consistent and reliable, but also more connected, transparent, and responsive to the needs of those we support. JKL Care Services – Caring with Clarity and Commitment For many services, JKL Care is commissioned by the local authority. JKL aims to deliver daily support with professionalism, compassion, and respect. Care packages are determined and reviewed by the local authority and set visit times are not guaranteed unless formally agreed. The role of the service is to carry out specific commissioned tasks — not to resolve every issue or extend beyond the agreed care package as an emergency response service. In addition to frontline visits, vital work is carried out behind the scenes, including assessments, planning, staff training, safeguarding, and compliance, to ensure services remain safe and sustainable. By maintaining clear boundaries and realistic expectations, JKL Care can continue to provide consistent, reliable, and high-quality support. OneTouch Digital Transformation – Coming 2026 JKL is preparing for a major digital upgrade with the introduction of OneTouch, our new all-in-one care management system. Replacing Birdie and Care Planner, OneTouch will streamline operations, strengthen communication, improve medication management, and introduce a secure family portal for greater transparency. It will also support rota planning, staff training, and compliance monitoring — giving us a single, smarter platform to deliver care more efficiently. Implementation begins in late 2025, with full rollout in January 2026. This transformation will provide clearer notes, easier reporting, and better-connected care for staff, service users, and families alike. New Onboarding Process – Building Strong Foundations JKL is developing a comprehensive new onboarding program to give every new team member the best possible start. The process will feature a flexible training workbook, bite-sized learning modules, and multi-format resources — including presentations, videos, scripts, and digital test papers — designed to support different learning styles and accessibility needs. The onboarding pathway will cover all core areas of care, from induction and professional boundaries to adult support & protection, health & safety, infection control, moving & handling, and medication administration. Each module will end with a “Bringing It All Together” session to reinforce learning. To ensure skills remain current, every training area will also include an update version and separate workbook for knowledge refreshers and compliance checks. This structured, accessible approach will strengthen confidence, consistency, and quality across our care teams. Expanding CPD & Specialised Training JKL is developing a comprehensive CPD and specialist training program to support continuous learning and professional growth across our teams. Training will be delivered in flexible, modular formats — including presentations, videos, scripts, and test papers — and will be integrated into the central learning workbook for easy access. Modules will cover a wide range of specialist areas such as dementia care, bereavement, epilepsy, neuro-disability, autism, mental health, diabetes, challenging behaviour, and equality & inclusion, with further topics including safeguarding, substance misuse, nutrition, oral health, domestic abuse, suicide prevention, communication skills, GDPR, and resilience for carers. The program will be continuously updated to reflect best practice, legislation, and sector requirements, with dedicated update versions to refresh knowledge and test understanding. This ensures our staff remain skilled, confident, and supported to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. Moving Forward Together in 2026 At JKL, we are committed to building a future of care that is clear, connected, and compassionate. With the launch of our new call system last week and the upcoming digital transformation through OneTouch, we are taking real steps toward better communication, stronger teamwork, and more responsive services. These changes will allow us to continuously review, reflect, and develop, ensuring that every improvement directly strengthens the care we deliver. Purpose The purpose of these developments is simple: to create a sustainable, innovative, and people-centred service that empowers our staff, supports our families, and provides safe, high-quality care for those who need it most. By embracing change and working together, we can enter 2026 with clarity, confidence, and a shared commitment to excellence.

#CakeBreak

The JKL Family came together on the 16th of November to raise money for the MS Society. Together we managed to raise £270 from our #CakeBreak and we would like to thank our service users and colleagues for their generous donations and fantastic contribution to make a day to remember.
